Troubleshooting, error codes, and user guides

Maintaining your solar system can become frustrating when issues arise unexpectedly, especially after such time and money have been invested in setting up your renewable energy solution. Explore our practical hints and tops to help diagnose and address common issues that may occur with your solar system. First Choice Solar’s goal is to empower its clients with the knowledge and resources needed to troubleshoot simply and effectively when possible, but of course, we’re always here to help you navigate any challenges that may arise too.

Shut Down / Restart Procedure

Often, like many forms of technology, a simple restart and reset is all that is needed to get your Solar system up and running once more.

*Note: the OFF(O) position in most switches is typically downwards and the ON (I) position upwards.

Step 1:  Go to the home or business switch, open it, locate the “Solar Supply Main Switch” (which will be marked), and flick the switch to the OFF position.

Step 2: If the solar power inverter is located more than 3 meters away from the switchboard, also find the switch marked “Solar AC Isolator” which will be located next to the inverter. (disregard this step if the inverter and switchboard are within 3 meters of each other)

Step 3: Located on the inverter is a switch marked “PV Array and DC Isolator,” flick this switch to the OFF (O) position (often there are two switches, if this is the case, ensure both are switched off).

Step 4: If the inverter has a switch marked “Inverter Isolator,” flick this switch to the OFF position (disregard this step if the switch is not located).

Step 5: The Solar PV System should now be completely switched off.  All lights and screen displays are inactive.  Leave the system off for a minimum of 5 minutes.

Step 6: Restart the system by following this guide in reverse, flicking all switches back to ON in the same order that they were switched off, but in reverse.

Step 7: Monitor the LDC screen on the Inverter after the showdown and reboot procedure is complete.  Stable green lights and no error message indicate that the solar system is functioning again. For any red lights displayed on the LCD screen and/or error messages, take a photo of the LCD screen and email us (insert hyperlink for contact us page).  Ensure you include the Inverter brand and model, serial number, and install date to avoid any delays in service callouts or possible warranty claims.  * In case of an emergency, please shut down your solar system immediately.

Next steps: First Choice Solar endeavors to diagnose and respond to your service request email within 5 business days either arranging for an inspection time to further investigate the issue or advising that we will lodge a claim with the manufacturer if the fault is with the Inverter.  Service call-out charges may apply.
