Solar system frequently asked questions
First Choice Solar has enjoyed steady growth from its origins as a solar contractor. With over 10,000 installations under our belt and growing, we are now widely recognised as the leading name in solar retail across the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast & Fraser Coast.
How does solar power work?
Solar panels work by absorbing sunlight with photovoltaic cells (built into the panel), which, once the sunlight is received, it generates direct current (DC) electricity. This electricity is then converted (via an inverter) into usable alternating current (AC) electricity, ready to power homes or businesses.
What are the benefits of switching to solar power?
Save money and Increase Property Value: Switching to solar can significantly reduce and even eliminate electricity bills, providing substantial long-term savings. Solar Panels also increase property value, typically adding up to 5% resale value of your home or business.
Environmental Benefits: By harnessing the power of the sun and relying on renewable energy sources, you actively protect the planet by reducing carbon emissions and reliance on fossil fuels, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
Energy Independence: Solar energy grants you greater control over your energy consumption and costs. Generating your own energy on site reduces dependency on the grid, protecting against fluctuating utility prices.
Government incentives: Many incentives are on offer including tax credits and rebates, enhancing affordability for making the switch to green energy.
